Should I be leaving a job in 2025 to build a business or startup?

This is a great question. There is serious hardship on families across the globe with people doing and finding all kinds of things that can bring in extra income. Its not easy and take a lot of work and dedication but there is a serious question to be addressed. Should anyone be thinking of leaving a full time stable income to persue trying to build a business from scratch?

To give you a little bit of background about me I have exited a SAAS business and have been backed by techstars and previous that have have worked in investment banking. The answer to that question is really more about your risk profile. Have you got a family, have you got kids, do you have the emotional and mental support to really be taking such a large risk.

Its up to you

Having a stable income and having kids is probably the best thing you can do. Going out there and building a business with kids may be difficult as you will not have a stable income. Most people take risks when they are young as they know when they get older things will be even harder.

Have mental and emotional support - then yes

Building anything is so hard that any kind of support will help you succeed and you will need it.

Conclusion

Look and study your finances carefully. Try to predict your run rate and how long you can last without an income. It should take approximately 6 months (no longer to show if a business will work or not and get at least 1 paying customer.
