Is finance a good career path from a former Lazard banker and exited founder
To answer this question i have to share my background a little more in depth. I was a sales trader at Lazard and was also on the buy side at Bernstein. After this, i went into entrepreneurship and sold a SAAS business.
The answer to this question, according to everything i have done is yes. Its a secure, stable and reliable career path. Probably the best you can choose. Almost everything else is harder (and less well paid). The chance of you being the next Mark Zuckerberg is less than zero.
Ive done it all and I can tell you raising money for any business is seriously difficult. We even had a revenue-generating business that was competing with huge email marketing companies. Our competitors managed to raise capital but we didn't. There is no exact explanation why but luck plays a part in it.
Finance is great ,and you can grow to be a senior in a bank. The career path is a great choice for anyone looking for a great salary, flexibility to move around and career growth.
If your a risk taker try entrepreneurship but dont cry if things dont work out!
