VC's should be embracing founders with startup experience not rejecting them
If you scan LinkedIn you may be able to see the amount of VC's that have little to no startup experience. But why is this? If YC (the most successful startup accelerator who has backed the likes of companies like dropbox and Airbnb and is full of exited founders, why are other tier 1 VC's hiring mostly Stanford and Harvard alumni without startup experience?
To give you a little background on me, I am a former sales trader at Lazard and Bernstein sales person. In addition to this, I have sold a SAAS business. I am a VC scout, but have not been approched by the silicon valley VC's for a full time position. I have been through Antler and saw a lot of the partners also did not have startup experience.
So VC roles are more about connections than anything else. Yes this may be true as with any other job but why not connect with founders who have all kinds of experience. Just do a LinkedIn search and you will most are from Ivy league schools. This last point may be to the investors into the VC funds. It may be a good idea to move into more of a YC type VC.
