How to get a job after being in a failed startup in 2025

Finding a job after being in any kind of business is going to be hard. Its already very difficult to get any work anywhere and so here is my advice on finding one as best as you can after being in a failed startup.

  1. Go to your network - applying to jobs on LinkedIn is not enough. You have now been out of the job market for a while. Most companies do NOT like the fact that you have tried or worked for a failed startup and so it may be hard to get a job through the regular channels. This experience comes from people who have tried to do this.
  2. Look for jobs that could fit your profile. Weahter it be ones similar to the things you were doing before you tried to build your startup and had it failed
  3. Make sure that you activate linkedin "looking for a job" so that people know you are looking for one.
  4. Start to talk to recruiters in the field about what It would take to get back to work and what you need on your CV to make it happen.

Conclusion

Be proactive, let people know you are looking for a job and be clear about it at every level.
