What is a hardware wallet?

Hardware wallets like Trezor have their advantages, the main disadvantage being that you have to carry around a physical product and you can forget it at times. You also need quite a big upfront cost.

What is a soft wallet? (like crypto.com)

Soft wallets are generally online, and most of the big exchanges have them. Its a case of having a seed phrase that you can store somewhere and then a easy user interphase but the downside is clear. Its all online and so having good cybersecurity is essential. As we have seen with FTX and its downfall its clear that you need to be careful with what soft wallets you are using.
