Want to know how hard it is to work for Silicon Valleys VC's. If you do any kind of linkedin analysis you will notice that most are from [Harvard](https://www.harvard.edu/?ref=founderbounty.com) or [Stanford](https://www.stanford.edu/?ref=founderbounty.com) with little or no operating experience on actually building a business. But [YC](https://ycombinator.com/?ref=founderbounty.com) the best early stage seed VC is full of exited founders from various backgrounds.

I have investment banking and exited businesses and still never got a call from a Silicon valley VC. One of my ex colleagues went straight from banking into VC.

Did building a startup damage my chances? Funnily enough probably yes. You have to look at the data and of global VC's and profiles to understand the trends in who hires what and from what schools. (Linkedin has a great search function where you are able to see what schools they attended)

VC is a closed world. You need to know people to get in. Contact me to chat more.

## If YC is the best VC globally, why are most of the partners former exited founders?

Well this is interesting. The best early stage VC in the world is in fact FULL of proven operating experience founders. So why are other VC's more interested in non operating experience partners?

## MY SUGGESTIONS:

1. GO TO A TOP TIER SCHOOL
2. NETWORK
3. WORK IN BANKING (A STARTUP WONT MATTER)

## We don't know.

But one thing to learn from this is if you want to get into VC better attend Stanford.
